Look After Yourself

I initially thought to post this blog on my business blog, but I figured it might have a place here too. It’s not a short story. It’s not a fun recipe or a game review. The aim is to share a simple message: Look after yourself.

Let’s Talk About Santa’s Reindeer For A Second

Last night, my brain decided that I wasn’t going to sleep until I made up an entire story about Santa’s reindeer, specifically Donner and her regrettably unfortunate hella boring name when compared to the ✨spicy✨ names of the rest of the crew. Enjoy…

HITRECORD: A Collaborative Resource For Creatives

A friend of mine loaned me a book called The Tiny Book of Tiny Stories recently and I absolutely adored it! It reminded me a little of the Shorts I post right here on this blog each week. Anywho, upon reading more about it and how it was written, I stumbled across an online community for creatives called HITRECORD. I’m probably late to the party as HITRECORD has been around for quite a few years now, but I figured I’d send the word out to others who missed the initial HITRECORD hype. If you’re a creative of any and all backgrounds/specialties and you’re interested in learning about this awesome collaborative initiative, read on…

Understanding Empaths: A Catch 22

An empath in a fictional setting is defined as a person with the paranormal ability to perceive the mental or emotional state of another individual. In the real world, being an empath isn’t so much paranormal as it is rare, mystifying and even perplexing to some. There’s nothing paranormal to fear about it, it’s more of a 6th sense (but with little to no involvement from Bruce Willis)…

Jester Lavorre Cosplay Tutorial

Hello, hello! Today I’m sharing a super simple Jester Lavorre cosplay tutorial based on the recent costume I put together for the Sydney Oz Comic-Con Pop-Up 2021. This Critical Role (from the mind of Laura Bailey) inspired character cosplay was a lot of fun to make and could honestly be done pretty easily by cosplayers of all skill levels. I’m a beginner myself, so it goes to show that you can make amazing stuff if you use a little imagination and a little help from friends. Enjoy…

Bunnings And Cosplay And Middle-Aged Aussie Dudes…Oh My!

Be me, doing my best emo kid impression (MCR tee, black jeans, skull earrings, blue hair, the lot) at Bunnings yesterday afternoon, faced with the unabated curiosity of a middle-aged white dude wearing a wife beater. The visit was for the sole purpose of finding materials to use to make Jester Lavorre and Fjord Stone costumes for the Oz Comic Con Pop-Up event this coming weekend.

Best Plants For Busy Lifestyles

Now, I’m no plant expert, but I have managed to keep a range of plants alive on my balcony, I assume through sheer dumb luck. It may be because I choose plants that are good for people with busy (or lazy) lifestyles. It may be because I’m a natural plant grower, who has figured out how to channel the power of Mother Earth herself. Either way, here are a few plants that I’ve managed to keep alive without really knowing what I’m doing, so they may be good for you too…

What Even Was 2020?

Ok, I know it’s not over yet, but what even was 2020?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hating on it. Contrary to popular opinion, 2020 wasn’t actually horrific for me. I know that a lot of people were negatively impacted by Covid-19 to varying degrees and I’m definitely not shitting all over their experiences, but I can’t say that I’m personally hateful towards this year. I still just can’t wrap my head around everything that happened and how quickly it has flown by!

My Chemical Romance Reunion //_^

Now, I wrote this post a little while ago when MCR announced a reunion (and a visit to Aus for Download Festival 2020) and it was posted as a page on my “Things I’d Swipe Right On” section. That section is a thing of the past. It’ll no longer be in page format but future TISRO posts be posted as actual posts. Anyway, that’s neither here nor there, but I couldn’t go past re-posting this so my fellow emos can wallow in the fact that MCR never did manage to get themselves out to Aus and it’s still not o-fucking-kay.

Enjoy…

But also…

Don’t…

Facebook Flashback: Public Transport, Earlobes & Dreadlocks

Hello, hello! Just a quick one today.

So, I had a few Facebook memories pop up recently that made me giggle. I thought I’d share them with you fine people.

If you needed further proof that taking the train to work in Sydney (pre-social distancing) can drive you slightly mad, these documented moments from 12 April 2016 should suffice.

Why Does My Cat…?

I find myself Googling the phrase, “why does my cat *insert weird thing my cat does*” way too often.

Like any good blogger, I thought I’d share some semi-amusing shit from my life with my readers and document the answers to said weird things.

Whether you have cats or not, it’s fun to learn. I hope you enjoy this delightfully strange, and slightly unsettling compilation of weird things my cats do, and why.

But first, background!

My partner and I have two cats: Aang and Korra. Yes, they are named after two Avatars. And yes, their names are super apt, given their personalities. It’s actually amazing.
