Mental dehydration, procrastination & low motivation – oh my!

As promised, pray4kates is back in action.

It’s been a while, I know.

As a writer, finding motivation, sourcing inspiration and avoiding procrastination are my worst enemies. I’m working on finding ways to sort my shit out. I promise there will be regular posts in future.

Trust me.

Do you guys sometimes feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Can’t find motivation to do anything other than re-watch your favourite TV series on Netflix? I mean, Avatar: The Last Airbender is on Netflix now so I don’t blame you.

But do you have those moments where you think, “Yes, tomorrow morning is the time for me to do this thing that I’ve been meaning to do for ages!” And then you just decide to sleep in for four hours until 1pm because the thought of getting out of bed and doing something productive is literally the worst thing you can imagine in that moment?

That’s been my life for a little while now. I’ve been in a bit of a lull where I just can’t seem to find the motivation to do anything except sleep and distract myself from the things that I know will enhance my life and bring a little bit of purpose into my general being.

In the words of a wonderful band called Middle Kids:

One day you’re fine, the next you’re crying
And suddenly your engine just stops going

It’s a pretty apt description for general feels of late. I don’t know if it’s self-sabotage, laziness or something a little more. I’m trying though. I’ve been setting aside time to work on my new small business. I have some really great clients, who I love working with. I’ve also been working on creating a general content plan for p4k.

Baby steps.

As I find my way back to becoming a relatively well-functioning human being, keep an eye out for my weekly “Things I’d Swipe Right On” updates. I’ll post them here on the blog and share them to the pray4kates Facebook page. The actual blog posts (like this one) will hopefully be posted every fortnight. Again, I’ll share them here on the site, and to the Facebook page.

I’ll also be posting “Word of the Week” updates on my business site iScribe Creative and sharing them to the iScribe Creative Facebook page.

Plenty of new content to come (in small doses, for now).

As always, #pray4kates

Catch you later,

Kates x
